Building Campsites

IMG_2162

Marking campground sitesIt turns out there’s a lot that goes into building a campground.  For those of you who are really interested, invite us out for a drink and we’ll happily share our numerous tales.  Lately, we’ve been busy discussing and marking out campsites throughout the property.  Since the Inn Town Campground will have three different types of camp sites (pitch-your-own tents, RV hook-ups and glamping tents), Dan has been walking around with flagged stakes looking at various locations, contemplating things like:  “What’s the view like from this tent spot?”, “I bet kids would love to play ‘King of the Mountain’ on that rock”, “How close will that site be to the trail?”.

2015-04-29_0003We’ve also been sampling other local campgrounds, check out either the Inn Town Campground Instagram or Facebook page for more camping photos.  And when you think about building a campground, it’s really important to look back on past adventures – its what helps you see the forest for the trees, literally.  Check out the two-part guest blog post I wrote for Backroad Planet about our travels around New Zealand, click here and here.

And speaking of traveling adventures, we had the great pleasure of meeting Gale and Jon over the weekend, a couple living in their Sprinter Van and traveling around the United States.  Gale has a beautiful website that spotlights women travelers and other fun landmarks, features and travel photographs, check it out at She Explores.  It was a treat to show them a slice of Nevada City and get their perspective on the future campground.  Thanks Jon for photo below, things are looking up around here.
