The Inn Town Campground is owned and founded by Dan and Erin Thiem, residents of Nevada City and local business owners.
Where was our love of camping born?
Dan spent his childhood participating in Boy Scout camping trips and got a taste of the Colorado outdoors. Erin spent summers river rafting throughout California and beyond with her family. We met at Colorado College and, after graduating, spent a summer driving to Alaska in our 1981 VW Van, affectionately named “Nora”. Our quest for adventure continued, including five years living in New Zealand exploring the country with our two Kiwi born sons.
Just before we returned to California, we embarked on a 2 1/2 month RV road trip around New Zealand. During that trip, we visited many of the country’s serviced campgrounds, called “Holiday Parks”; these were the inspiration for the Inn Town Campground. Now, back in California, we are often found roasting s’mores in our front yard and dreaming of the ways to get outside and sleep in the tent, or exploring ski resorts in our travel trailer.
The Inn Town Campground was born from our love of camping, community and the outdoors. Many of the park’s details were inspired by our personal experiences, like our open-air showers that sit beneath our towering pine trees, or our uniquely decorated Glamping tents that offer a fun break from the homogeny of daily life. We have built indoor and outdoor spaces for people to gather to meet friends and to experience the community of stewardship that comes with enjoying our property’s intrinsic beauty. Inn Town Campground is a reflection of our love of outdoor spaces and fun, natural areas for everyone to explore. Imagine roaming free beneath the trees, riding your bike with friends or just sitting by a fire pit watching flames dance over a glass of wine. Camp, be outside, find new friends.
Come experience Inn Town Campground – make a weekend in the Sierras part of your story. You can often find Dan out working in the campground and Erin taking photos, sharing through images our love for camping and the outdoors. We hope to share it with you too!
