Nevada City recently experienced a forest fire called the Jones Fire. This fire is currently at 705 acres and 50% contained (as of the morning of 8/23). For the most up-to-date information on local fires and containment, please visit YubaNet.
The fire is not expected to grow significantly and is currently no longer a threat to our immediate areas.
Local authorities have lifted evacuation orders, including the areas closest to camp. The campground was never subject to any of these advisories or orders, so we have not been evacuated or closed.
Since we were not evacuated, campground operations have not been affected and we don’t anticipate any future operational impacts from this fire.
We have been able to honor, and will continue to honor, all existing reservations, including helping evacuees find somewhere to stay when availability permits.
Smoke impacts vary throughout the day and are influenced by wind, temperature and other California fires. Please note that our cancellation policy does not change due to smoke or potential smoke.
If fire weather becomes extreme again (e.g. a Red Flag warning is issued), we may limit charcoal BBQs and propane fire pits at camp; currently there are no restrictions beyond normal operations, but please be advised that is subject to change.
