LOVE IS THE AIR
Love is in the air, who’s ready for Valentine’s Day? We got together with local photographer Lenakaland Photography to help showcase some ideas on how you can decorate your camp site to celebrate your loved one.
Ten tips to spending Valentine’s Day at the campground:
- Bring Champagne, wine or sparkling cider
- Pack a special chocolate or holiday candy
- Sit by the camp fire and roast some marshmallows
- Bring balloons
- Spend the night outside, whether it’s a getaway or a staycation
- If it’s winter and you can’t celebrate Valentine’s Day at the campground, book a special trip for a warmer date and give your family the gift of a future trip.
- Make a homemade garland
- Get take out or make a picnic and eat outside
- Go for a nature hike
- Sit outside and look at the stars
THINK LOCAL
For the sweet tooth, you can buy truffles from Nevada City Truffle Shop, chocolate covered strawberries (milk, dark or white chocolate) from Nevada City Chocolate Shoppe or one of their locally made artisans chocolate. Maybe you want an ice cream sundae for two from Treats, decadent dessert from Cake Bakery, organic chocolate from Choquiero Chocolate or something sweet from Lazy Dog Chocolateria.
If flowers are your go to love language, check out either Soil Sisters Farm or Little Boy Flowers CSA for either the early spring or summer series of locally grown flowers. The Sunroom in Nevada City is a great option to give the gift of a living plant, something that will last long after Valentine’s Day. Foothill Flowers, in downtown Grass Valley, has Valentine’s Day bouquets with roses, tulips, orchids, lilies and much more.
