HALLOWEEN LADY FINGERS
1 cup (room temp.) butter, 1 cup powdered sugar,
1 tsp. vanilla, 1 egg
cream these 4 ing. Add 2 3/4 cup flour and 1 tsp baking powder…roll into log…wrap in wax paper and refrigerate 1/2 hr. or until you are ready to use…..
FORM COOKIES….
Roll a small amount of dough into a finger shape…fatter on one end than the other…
Make 3 cuts (1/3 of the way through the dough)
About 1/3 and 2/3’s of the way down….like a real finger…
Press a slivered almond down and into the narrow end of dough
Rub around “nail” and knuckle creases with cinnamon……Bake at 325 degrees for 20-25 min.
For blood…heat ½ cup jelly, 1/3 cup sugar and a mixture of 1T. corn starch and ½ cup water…heat on stove top until melted and thick…dip end of finger in “blood” I sometimes put a dab under nail if loose to keep in place. I also might add red food color to make blood a deeper red.
*For witches fingers you add green food color to dough and paint slivered almonds with black icing…
icing….egg whites, powdered sugar & black food coloring
*This dough recipe is the BEST for cut out cookies as it does not lose it’s shape in the oven.
