July Camping Round Up
Hello happy campers! The Inn Town Campground has been open for just over a month and we’re still blown away by the feedback from campers. When we set out to do this project, we knew it would be a lot of work, but the reward we’ve had by seeing people camping and enjoying the campground has far surpassed our expectations. We want to give a huge shout out to our staff for jumping in with their two feet and helping us get the campground up and running.
There has been a lot of fun at the campground, from family movie nights, s’mores around the communal fire pits to friendly battles at the ping pong table. Currently the outdoor movie screenings are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm for campers only. Bring a snack, your camp chair if you want and come hang out.
The community kitchen continues to get rave reviews. I love hearing from folks, “I have a bunch of dietary issues and it was such a blessing to have the use of this amazing kitchen, it made the trip for us.” It’s great to see people sitting and eating in the dining area, sharing food in the free pile and offering coffee to the next person. The kitchen and The Commons living room are fostering the community feel that we had envisioned. It’s great to hear folks giving local suggestions and dinner recommendations while playing ping pong or buying additional bags of ice.
Our camp store is getting a lot more activity now that we got our beer & wine license. The top sellers still include: ice, ice cream and now beer. In addition we’ve got non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, Inn Town Campground gear, artisans marshmallows, toiletries and a special Inn Town Campground Camp Blend coffee.
Press – many thanks to the on going great press for the campground. Since we opened we’ve been featured in Walnut Creek Magazine, Pure Wow, Sactown Magazine, Girls on the Grid blog and Eventbrite Rally blog. It’s also really fun to spy folks sharing their photos on social media and using #inntowncampground on Instagram.
It was great to meet the Redican in their VW van. “I’m hard pressed to pick a favorite thing about the experience. Lord knows I love a friendly staff and the one this campground has is top of the line and a clean bathroom is worth its weight in gold (because we all know how disgusting campground bathrooms can get) but I think my favorite thing about Inn Town is the fact that you are surrounded by these old-growth trees and feel like you are out in the woods and yet you can walk into the cutest little, artsy, historic town. I love the woods and I also love a cute town and I got both. Bonus! The kids even declared that it was worth the 8 hour, un-air conditioned drive up I-5 and that is high praise indeed.” You can read the rest of the review here.
The Borromeo Family Reunion was a success, thanks Katherine for taking the time to share with us. “We’re all settled in, back home in the Bay Area. On behalf of my friends and I, I would like to take a moment to thank you all for your hospitality. You and your team thought of everything. Inn Town Campground appeals to everyone, from the avid camper to those just looking to escape the rat race without sacrificing everyday creature comforts! Although we were sad to Nevada City, we take comfort in knowing that Inn Town Campground is only a three and a half hour drive away. Rest assured that we will tell everyone we know about our awesome experience. Once again, thank you for the memories!”
In addition to press, we really love reading online reviews folks have left us love at Campendium, RV Park Reviews, Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp and Facebook. I also love meeting folks who have been following along on the journey via social media who have decided to come visit and check it out in real life. A camper who read about us in Sunset and came glamping was overjoyed to meet our youngest son while he was out giving away cold treats on a hot evening and said, “I felt like I was a part of the family here.” It’s been awesome to see repeat customers in the first month, huge shout out to the handful of people who had such a great time, they came back several weeks later. While there have been plenty of learning opportunities in our first month of business, overall it’s been so satisfying to make our dream a reality. And a mere 5 weeks after opening we hit the milestone of being 100% occupied on Saturday night. So thank you, to those who have come camping, to those of you who have shared the love and cheered us on, we appreciate it. It takes a village to open a campground and we’re still marveling that we have brought this project to life, so bring your tent, your RV or rent a glamping tent and come join the fun.
