Summer Camping

Tent Camping

CampingSummer camping has arrived and the campground is buzzing with activity.  Memorial Day weekend was busy, you can check out our round up on IGTV.  The campground’s pool was the place to be and cool off over the holiday weekend.  We’re definitely selling plenty of ice cream in the camp store.

South Yuba River

Many of our guests are taking day trips to the South Yuba River.  Our local tips and friendly reminders:
-please be cautious and aware of the many natural obstacles
-please do not park in no parking zones, or over the white line on the highway
-leave no trace and always make sure to pack out any garbage, no glass or fires
-be mindful of the poison oak
-and please don’t pick the wildflowers.

The Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum’s railbus is back on the tracks (click here to see the time table and more info about the museum, we recommend making a reservation).  We’ve also restocked our camp store with some great new branded gear, plus some fun new Inn Town Campground merchandise.  We stocked up on more kid Inn Town Campground goodies.

Family Camping

If you’re looking for more kid friendly activities this summer, click here; there are tons of great kids events and things to do in Nevada City & Grass Valley.  And, if you don’t have a tent site reservation, don’t worry, the Inn Town Campground still has sites available this summer – book soon for weekends as they are filling up quickly.  Or, if you’ve always wanted to try glamping, think about joining us mid-week, when we have more availability and town has a more relaxed, quiet feel.

One of our summer projects is to create a series of tips and suggestions for campers on how to create less waste while camping.  We’re huge fans of the #RecreateResponsibly philosophy and we want to help remind car campers and RVers that you too can create less waste while camping.  Tip #1, take advantage of the Inn Town Campground outdoor dishwashing stations.  You can buy a set of cute ITC pint glasses in our camp store, or bring your favorite durable options from home, we provide the hot water, soap and sponge and easy outdoor access for all campers to use.   Tip #2, recycle, the Inn Town Campground has recycling containers set up around the campground, just look for the blue bins next to the garbage cans.  Remember to empty liquids from bottles and leave the tops off. Tip #3, get a reusable coffee mug (we’ve got a few we recommend in our camp store), but bring your own cup for the next cocktail hour or BBQ with your campers.  This cuts down on waste and looks cool too.  Tip #4 get a refillable propane bottle for your camp stove.  We’ve recently stopped selling the single use bottles and help you get started or do an exchange if you already have one.  Tip #5 all of our water at camp is potable, so bring a big jug for water and either bring your favorite water bottle or buy one from the camp store as a souvenir.
