More Summer Camping
Summer camping season is definitely here and while the glamping and RV sites are pretty popular, there are still a few weekend tent campsites open. We also still have options for all varieties of camping during the week, click here for availability. For those who’ve been dreaming of a getaway to Nevada City, here are a few upcoming events:
- Folk Trails Hiking Club Meet up, Thursday, August 9th, Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) with Jake West, 6-8pm, Inn Town Campground
- Craft hour at the campground, Saturdays, 3-4pm
- Outdoor movies, Friday & Saturdays (and by request on weekdays).
- Bear Yuba Land Trust Fireside Chat, Thursday, August 30th, 6-7:30pm
- Check out one of our local Farmers Markets, Nevada City Farmers Market Saturdays 8:30-1pm
- Movies Under the Pines, August 18th in Pioneer Park, Nevada City
- Nevada County Concert Band Picnic in the Pops, August 26th
- Nevada County Fair, August 8th-12
- Uncorked Wine Tasting Event, August 25th

The Yuba Bus shuttle service to the South Yuba River will continued Thursday-Sunday until September 23rd, with two pick up times at the Inn Town Campground. If you’re interested in visiting the Hwy 49 Bridge and don’t want to worry about getting a parking space this service is a great option for your summer swimming hole adventure. Otherwise we’ve got maps of the river available in The Commons. These have directions on how to get to Hwy 49 as well as Bridgeport, Edwards and Purdon Crossings. Another great water adventure in Nevada City is Scotts Flat Lake where you can rent a SUP or kayak from Mountain Rec in the day use area. Or, for our campers who are looking for something refreshing but closer, you can always lounge by our swimming pool. No matter what your outdoor adventure preference, we’ve got great suggestions for those visiting us at the Inn Town Campground (biking, hiking, swimming holes, etc.), including the annual Barbara Schmidt Millar Celebration of Life Triathlon at Scotts Flat Lake on Sunday, September 16th.
To follow everything happening at camp, make sure to check out our Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter feeds. If you’re looking for more local ideas, check out the Visit Nevada City Instagram feed or the Outside Inn’s blog. Plus, every week I update our weekly events boards on Pinterest. Many thanks to those who have cheered us along, we love meeting fans in real life at the campground. And for those who missed the Instagram or Facebook post, Dan and I are honored to be on the cover of the ARVC (National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds) summer magazine issue, click here for a PDF of the magazine, the article is on page 15.
And to celebrate the final stretch of summer we have a giveaway package, post a comment here and we’ve got 2 weekend passes for the Yuba Bus (valid till September 23rd) and a gift certificate for $55 for one free night of tent camping at the Inn Town Campground (subject to availability). Winner will be announced on August 15th. *Edited to say the winner is Erin Horst.

We are so excited to camping next month for our birthdays! We love Nevada City and this will be our first time “glamping” with some friends. Love the pictures. Can’t wait. 🙂
Always informative to read your posts, Erin. 😊❤️
I’ve been wanting to stay at Inn Town Campground after a friend recommended this place! It looks quaint and like a great getaway! My town of Redding has been hit hard this past week with the CARR fire. Escaping the smoke has been a struggle, and I would love nothing more than a getaway to Nevada City to explore, rent a SUP, hike, camp, etc– a new place in California is waiting for me!
Congrats on being featured in The Voice! Recognition much deserved.
Thank you for all the hard work you do in keeping us informed about all the awesome activities to do in Nevada County. You are a valuable resource and as a blog reader and social media follower from Sacramento, it is much appreciated. You provide us with the best/peak times to enjoy all the fabulous seasonal activities in your beautiful part of California, which is difficult to find if you are wanting to see a mass bloom of wildflowers or awesome waterfall flows, for example.
I truly enjoy reading your articles 🙂
Thanks Diane, I appreciate your continued support for both the Outside Inn & Inn Town Campground.
We just stayed this weekend for the second year in a row and love it. Looking for ward to another stay next month and trying out the Yuba Bus and touring the Railroad museum.
we’ve been waiting all summer to camp at in town. hasn’t happened yet but I’m determined to make it happen by end of Sept. it’s been on my bucket list!
So excited! I absolutely love InnTown! My husband and I (and our pups) have been here twice and we love it! Would love to come back soon!
We absolutely love Inn Town. We’ve camped there (tent site 26) since the summer you opened. It is our family tradition and we brought my parents this summer to check out glamping site 20. We can’t wait to go back! We love how you’ve added the Yuba Bus too – makes our river trips so much more convenient!
Congrats on being front and center in The View! This campground looks amazing with the spa showers, pool acess, glamping tents, and it close proximity to town. Can’t wait to spend a weekend here some day.
Awesome as always! I’m up for the adventure!
We just spent a week at Inn Town. You absolutely must visit.
Thinking about planning a late summer/early fall trip!!
I so enjoyed the 2 nights we spent at your campground last summer. We’d love to return in our pop-up when we return from our East Coast adventure!
Love the pic of you two on the cover! Hard work looks good on you both 🙂
We’re hoping visit soon for our daughter’s 4th birthday! We know she’d absolutely adore it there being the little wilderness loving nature girl she is. Your glamping tents look like so much fun! ☀️🌲🌙⛺️
I have been following your IG for awhile. I had trekked around the area behind the Northern Queen and wondered what was going to be built. It was really exciting to see the campground materialize and I have wanted to stay ever since it opened. We finally booked a trip for Labor Day weekend! I am looking forward to introducing my kids to the river so they can experience it like I did, every summer, under the pines.
Been keeping Inn Town on the radar, looks amazing! Hope we get to visit sometime.
I love reading your blog and seeing the comments on here. You do a really good job marketing your place. We hope to visit soon!
Open Studio Tours are in October. I think that could be a great excuse to go camping.
Wait– you already have a gift certificate– you should BOOK NOW!
Definitely a place we will be visiting soon.
Hi Erin! It’s been a couple of months since our last visit. Missing my favorite campground! Hoping to visit again real SOON!
We camp with our RV and love it. We’ve been to Inn Town Campground and thought it was great. It’s close to everything, lots to do, trails are beautiful and the weather is great. Can’t wait to see you again!
Our family loves to camp and we do do whenever we get a chance. I have enjoyed seeing all your posts and know my kids would love to camp there! This year has been really crazy and we haven’t had the opportunity to get out much and now school starts this week I can’t believe it! I hope we get the opportunity to go camping there soon!
Inn Town has been on our list of places to visit! We hope to visit sometime soon.
Love this place. We only camped one night, we were evacuated from the Carr Fire, headed east to Reno, Tahoe and then this lovely place before we headed home! I would love to stay longer next time! Thank You
Would love to win a night camping! We travel in a fifth wheel. Just got back from a Blues Festival in Sisters, Oregon.
I love seeing how much your little campground has grown these last two years! You have quite the vision! Since we live nearby, someday we will come for a staycation!
We get quite a few locals, so please don’t let your close proximity stand in the way of coming camping. Thanks for the continued support.
We love camping here. We have been guests at this lovely place many times. I recommend this to all our friends because there is an option for everyone. Can’t wait to see you next month.
Even though we are local, we would love to try a night at the Inn Town Campground OR share it with friends from Santa Cruz…
I live in Grass Valley and my family camped here while they were visiting. We had such a great time hanging out at Inn Town Campground. We have memories for years!
Next staycation I have I’m booking a few nights!
Loved our last minute getaway when we stayed in Glamping tent #13 – our first ‘Glamping’ experience! We’ve always been tent campers, but I could really get used to that! Miss you guys and keep looking for an excuse to get up there again, to see how you’ve further enhanced the site since our last visit!
Been waiting to see you guys and hear about the Creekside experience (Version 2). But you can definitely come glamping any time– bring the fam!
My husband and I are hoping to squeeze in one or two more camping trips before winter hits and would love to spend a night here!
Sounds like a great plan! We’re open year round– so always something to think about with the changing seasons (if you had a RV or van).
Came in April with our small trailer(19ft). Couldn’t wait to come back! Within two weeks of stay made reservation for September.. Had to pick a different site though, coming with 30 ft fifth wheel this time.
We would love to come and stay at your campground, I love all of your posts, and can’t get enough of looking at the pictures – I keep telling my husband we really need to get up there, so it would be really cool to win this little giveaway!☀️💦🌲🔥 ( we have an RV so could we apply the $55 tent credit towards an RV space if we win?) thx u♥️
YAY! We won! 💕
I really want to come over and try out some GLAMPING before it gets too cold!
