Tent camping

Nevada City doesn’t let winter get in the way of a good small town parade! Nevada City puts on several parades through the year, including the annual Mardi Gras parade.  This spectacle of beads and costumes happens every year on Sunday of President’s Day weekend, which is Feb 18th this year at 2pm (click here for photos from a previous year). The Inn Town Campground also sponsors the annual Chinese Lunar New Years Parade, which is coming to town Sunday, February 25th from 1-4pm.  We know it’s February, but it’s almost 70 degrees outside and Dan’s already moved into shorts season. So, with good weather and fun events, camping in February turns out to be more like camping in May!  Come check out the parades and join the Mardis Gras festivities.

Also, if you’re interested in a quick getaway this weekend, the Miners Foundry Masquerade Ball, is happening on Saturday the 10th. Or, if this weekend doesn’t work, click here for more upcoming events.

There are not many campgrounds open in the winter / off-season.  That’s why the Inn Town Campground is open for RV and tent camping year-round, plus we are now offering limited glamping on the weekends with the nice weather.  Glamping will open everyday beginning in March.  With the Commons and its relaxing, warm hang-out areas, plus fully stocked kitchen, camping in the winter at the Inn Town Campground is easy!  So, for those of you who’ve got cabin fever and want to bring out your RV, tent or even just your bag of clothes, we welcome you.  We’re only 45 minutes from Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge, if you want to do some spring skiing or snowboarding.  Or, if skiing doesn’t sound fun in the warm weather, Nevada City is home to a great network of hiking and biking trails.

We’re currently working on some projects, including upgrading the North and South showers.  We’ve also adjusted the glamping tent awnings to provide more shade to the front of the tents.

If you’re looking for some fun local events, we’ve got a book club meet-up, a photo walk and the Folk Trails Hiking Club hikes.  Check out our calendar of events for more information.

Otherwise, it’s been exciting the last few weeks as we help people plan their upcoming spring and summer camping trips.  We’ve talked to people coming for birthday parties, family reunions, local events and weddings, it’s great that the warmer weather has folks in the camping spirit.

We’ve also partnered with two local organizations for events this spring.  The Women’s Mountain Bike Skills Clinic with YBONC is scheduled for April 7th-8th (check out this fun video from last year’s event).  The Yoga Dive Glamping retreat is returning (May 18th-20th), spend the weekend doing yoga, wine tasting and hanging out with other ladies.

And if you made it this far we’re excited to announce that we’re having a tent camping special to honor this beautiful weather.  Book 3 nights of tent camping and receive 30% off your reservation, valid now through Thursday, March 29th.
