Mardi Gras and more…
Who’s coming to Nevada City for President’s Day weekend? Nevada City puts on the annual Mardi Gras parade; this year the event is on Sunday, Feb 19th at 2pm (click here for photos from a previous year). It’s always fun to live in a small town that celebrates parades. Plus, if you’re interested in the Miners Foundry Masquerade Ball, mark your calendars for Saturday, February 26th. If you’re looking for ideas on other events happening every week, click here. We recently sponsored the Chinese Lunar New Years Parade, thanks CATS for organizing that fun event.
The Inn Town Campground is open for RV and tent camping. With the Commons and its relaxing, warm hang-out areas, plus kitchen, camping in the winter can be easy – even with this record setting rainy winter! So, for those of you who’ve got cabin fever and want to bring out your RV, we welcome you. We’re only 45 minutes from Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge, so if you want to go skiing, snowboarding or cross country skiing it’s not that far. Or if you want to go snowshoeing there are options on Highway 20 about a half an hour from Nevada City.
Please note that our Glamping tents are closed for the winter season, but will reopen in March. We’re currently working on some projects, including upgrading some of the floors. Check out the photo of the floor in Glamping Tent #13!
Otherwise, it’s been exciting the last few weeks as we help people plan their upcoming spring and summer camping trips. We’ve talked to people coming for birthday parties, family reunions, local events and weddings.
We’ve also partnered with two local organizations for events this spring. The Women’s Mountain Bike Skills Clinic with YBONC is scheduled for March 31st-April 2nd (to see photos from last fall’s event, click here). The Yoga Dive Glamping retreat is filling up fast (May 5th-7th), spend the weekend doing yoga, wine tasting and hanging out with other ladies.
If you’re thinking about summer camps, now’s a great time to do some research on different local opportunities. Check out last year’s Outside Inn blog post on the Nevada City Summer Camp Fair for links to kid friendly day camps in our area. Your family could come to Nevada City for the week and the kids could go to Lego camp, art class, soccer camp, circus camp… there are a lot of great options and if the kids don’t want to do an overnight camp (of which there are some great options in Nevada City), you could stay with us at the Inn Town Campground and just do day camps.
Because of all the rains, the mushroom at the campground are having a field day. We’ve been playing Guess the Mushroom game on Instagram. Watch our Facebook page and events calendar for more info on an upcoming campground tour. And for those of you who are looking for inspiration on why to book their upcoming summer camp out, check out our video gallery (loved the Urban Treehouse video from last summer).
