Winter Activities and camping
We’re not really sure what happened to winter, but if you’re looking to spend some quiet days in your travel trailer or van and want to come camping, just a friendly reminder that the Inn Town Campground is open in the winter / off-season. Our canvas walled Glamping tents will re-open beginning in March, although if you want to try the yurt, because it’s insulated and has a heater, it’s a good option for winter glamping. With the Commons and its relaxing, warm hang-out areas, plus fully stocked kitchen, camping in the winter at the Inn Town Campground is easy! So, for those of you who’ve got cabin fever and want to bring out your RV, tent or even just your bag of clothes, we welcome you. We’re only 45 minutes from Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge, if you want to do some skiing or snowboarding. Or, if skiing doesn’t sound fun in the warm weather, Nevada City is home to a great network of hiking and biking trails.

Nevada City doesn’t let winter get in the way of a good small town parade! Nevada City puts on several parades through the year, including the annual Chinese Lunar New Year Parade and the Mardi Gras parade. Chinese New Year festivals are unique in rural communities, and Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra, along with the Miners Foundry, are proud to present this family-friendly celebration, honoring the early Chinese Gold Rush pioneers and railroad workers of the Sierra. The celebrations to ring in the Year of the Horse will take place in downtown Nevada City this Sunday, March 1st starting at noon. This year the Mardi Gras event will take place on Saturday, February 15, noon-4pm with the parade starting at 2pm in downtown Nevada City. And don’t forget the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, February 19-23 in both Nevada City & Grass Valley. For over 21 years SYRCL has been hosting the event as a call to action for environmental activism and a celebration of nature, through films, workshops, artist receptions, activities and more! If you’re in Nevada City or Grass Valley, check out the program, or if you want to celebrate from afar, you can always enjoy some of the virtual screenings.
We’re currently working on some projects around camp. If you can’t figure out what site is best for you we recommend either the online photo galleries, google street views, the site map, the 360 tour or if you want to stop by in person, the camp store is open 11am-4pm in the winter months.
Otherwise, it’s been exciting the last few weeks as we help people plan their upcoming spring and summer camping trips. We’ve talked to people coming for birthday parties, family reunions, local events and weddings, it’s great that folks are getting into the camping spirit. If it’s raining and you’re looking forward to something to do, whether it’s this month of next fall, now is a great time to book.
And if you made it this far we’re excited to announce that we’re having a Winter camping special to celebrate off season camping. Make any new reservation to stay at the campground before February 12th for 2 nights and receive 15% off.
